Today, I'd be sharing with you my review on this BB cream from AVON which I got for free because my mom is an AVON dealer/re-seller.
If you're not in the mood to read today, I have also filmed a first impression and demo of this product, and here's the video if you'd rather watch than read:
PRODUCT: AVON Skin Goodness Moisturizing BB Cream
PRICE: 280PHP
STORE: Via AVON dealers/re-sellers
PRODUCT CLAIMS:
- blends seamlessly into the skin revealing a healthy and refreshed look
- formulated with moisturizing essence and vitamin complex
- helps protect skin from harmful environment
- revitalize skin to look healthy and moisturized
- SPF 20/PA ++/ Dermatologist tested
- suitable for sensitive skin
JUDGMENT: I was lured by its classy packaging but was disappointed by its unexpectedly sheer coverage. It's a little creamy and totally lightweight but I'm always after coverage so this definitely won't beat my other bb creams on hand (FS and Skin79). I’d still keep it though for those “good skin days” where I don’t need that much of coverage
OVERALL RATING: 3.5/5 HEARTS
THE REVIEW:
When I came back to the Philippines in April of this year for a 2-week vacation, my mom surprised me with a whole bunch of new stuff from AVON. She said that she’s been waiting for me to come home so she could give them all to me. I made a haul of everything she gave me in here and here.
One of the things that really surprised me is this AVON BB Cream. I didn’t know that AVON now has her own BB creams which of course made me very ecstatic at the sight of it. I’m not really sure how many shades there are but my mom got me two in the shades NUDE and LIGHT.
The shade light does not match my skin tone while the shade nude, although matches has a little bit of a discrepancy, but very negligible. I’ve tried combining the two, and it gave me the perfect match to my skin tone. It’s really cool to mix two or three different shades of foundation just to achieve the right shade for your skin. I don’t know why but I really find it awesome – just like painting.
So, I did have this BB cream in my makeup collection since April but I only decided to open and use it last month, thus my first impression video. In the video, I wore it from noontime until afternoon to really see if it has the things I’m looking for and if it really does what it claims it will do to my skin.
To cut it short, here are the pros and cons based on my observations and conclusions:
PROS
- The packaging looks chic and classy, and very travel friendly.
- The consistency is not thick but not that liquidy as well.
- It is fragrance-free (although I can catch a very faint scent, it’s very negligible)
- It has sun protection benefits (SPF 20 / PA ++) and is indeed moisturizing
- It is lightweight and very easy to spread
CONS
- Although I love how the packaging looks, I didn’t like the fact that it only has 18g of product inside.
- With the kind of consistency it has, I was expecting for its coverage to be at par with my other BB creams but sadly it’s nowhere near the coverage of my FS BB cream which I can’t understand given its creamy texture.
- It may have helped in evening out my skin tone but it did nothing in concealing my blemishes no matter how I layered it up.
- Even when set with powder, my T-zone still became shiny towards the second hour of wearing it on my face. Beyond 2 hours, my face started to oil up and towards the end of the afternoon, my face was totally oily all over. Not great.
- It creases when not set with powder right away and it forms sort of a white film around the sides of my nose which is really not a pleasing sight to see.
WOULD I REPURCHASE?
I’m actually glad that I had the chance of trying this out without having to purchase it because it didn’t give me enough reasons to consider buying it. Yes it may have a lot of good skin and sun protection benefits but I can also get it from other BB creams while getting the coverage I need. So the answer is, NO.
DO I RECOMMEND THIS?
Yes and No. If you have dry or normal skin and you don’t have a lot of skin issues like I do then YES, I recommend this BB cream to you but if the reason you want to use BB cream (or foundation) is just like mine which basically are to even out the skin tone, get rid of redness and cover blemishes, then NO, this product is not the right one for you.
